We mark today, with sadness and as he is laid to rest, the sudden passing last week of former Northport Limited director Benoît Marcenac (see our previous post).
In gratitude, Benoît - farewell.
Crossing the bar: Benoît Marcenac
We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing last week of former Northport Limited director Benoît Marcenac.
Benoît was a leading light in Zealand’s shipping industry. He began his career with French shipping company Delmas, working both in France and internationally. He relocated to New Zealand with his young family some 25 years ago to lead the well-known Pacific Islands shipping line Sofrana Unilines.

This is a red-letter day for Northland!
We started communicating our Vision for Growth way back in 2017. We launched a comprehensive website designed to show what expansion might look like (sideways, not out into the harbour), thereby also sucking the oxygen out of claims by some that expansion at Northport was physically impossible.
Importantly, we said at that point that we wanted to bring the community with us on the journey to expansion. The website and the years of consultation and engagement that followed were true to that commitment.
