The health and safety of employees, contractors and port users is considered by Northport Ltd as an integral part of doing business. The Health and Safety in Employment Act and Code of Practice for Health and Safety in Port Operations, places an obligation on Northport Ltd to take all practical steps to ensure the safety of every person who enters the port environs.
The nature of our business as a port facility means that there are numerous and varying activities being carried out within the boundaries of the port, which create high levels of risk to all individuals working onsite. This requires a close working partnership, with effective communication, between all port users.
Port Users are defined but not limited to the following groups:
- Northport Employees
- Marshalling Companies and Employees
- Stevedoring Companies and Employees
- Lessees Operating their Businesses within the Port
- Fumigation Companies
- Contractors and Subcontractors
- Employees of Government Agencies
- Ships Agents
- Providors
All incidents, accidents and or near misses on Northport land, regardless of how minor are required to complete the following form and return it to Northport Security within 24hrs after the event.
