Northport is nestled in the stunning Bream Bay, and is the northern most multi-purpose port in New Zealand.  There is a current team of 30 and expansion plans are exciting with a highly progressive vision for growth.

This hands-on position reports directly to the Port Mechanic – and the primary role involves the effective maintenance of a broad range of heavy mobile plant and site equipment. Examples include forklifts (3t up to 50t), reach stackers, top lift container handlers, truck fleet, tractors, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and last but not least our exciting new container cranes.

We are looking for a trade certified diesel mechanic – with a minimum of 5 years practical experience coming from any number of sectors including forestry, or freight and logistics, or heavy industry.

In return we can provide a steady and stable role within a small but focused team in a highly varied and growing organisation. For the right person the salary is considered as a good starting base for a typical 45 hour week Mon-Fri. Whist requiring flexibility we aim to keep additional hours and weekend work to a minimum other than for urgent unplanned emergencies, and in those cases call-out compensation will apply, over and above base salary.
