Northport is one of three commercial ports in Whangarei Harbour. The other operators are Channel Infrastructure at Marsden Point and Golden Bay Cement at Portland. The port of Whangarei is no longer a commercial port. The port authority for Whangarei Harbour is Northland Regional Council.
