Northport is looking for an experienced maintenance leader to take our maintenance planning and delivery to the next level.
This is an opportunity to lead and coordinate our mechanical, electrical, facilities maintenance and grounds functions, while driving the implementation and ongoing development of our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Working across a busy commercial port environment, you’ll bring structure, forward planning and continuous improvement to the way we maintain our assets. You’ll have real scope to strengthen asset reliability, improve maintenance performance and build a more proactive, data-driven maintenance culture.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of Northport’s CMMS, establishing effective systems, processes and reporting.
- Develop and drive disciplined maintenance planning and scheduling, from daily work programmes through to longer-term preventative maintenance.
- Lead and coordinate maintenance teams, internal trades and specialist contractors.
- Improve asset reliability through preventative maintenance, performance monitoring and analysis of maintenance trends.
- Coordinate resources, materials, equipment and critical spares to ensure work is delivered efficiently.
- Monitor maintenance performance, address backlogs and drive continuous improvement.
- Champion safe working practices and ensure maintenance activities meet relevant statutory and operational requirements.

Desirable Skills
- Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling and team leadership within a port, marine, industrial, infrastructure or similar operational environment.
- Experience using a CMMS, with the ability to improve its functionality, data quality and day-to-day adoption.
- Strong coordination and prioritisation skills, with the confidence to balance planned maintenance against changing operational demands.
- A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to use data to drive better decisions.
- A strong commitment to safety, accountability and high-quality work.
- A relevant trade, tertiary or planning qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience implementing a CMMS and at least five years in a relevant management or leadership role would be an advantage.

Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Supervisor to lead and support the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of cargo operations across our port facility.
This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising daily cargo operations, coordinating operational staff, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, quality, environmental, customs, biosecurity, and security requirements. The successful applicant will oversee cargo handling activities, container operations, storage and marshalling services, while supporting vessel scheduling, berth planning, and the delivery of new cargo services.
Working closely with internal teams, port users, and regulatory agencies, the Operations Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, maintaining high service standards, and supporting the ongoing growth and development of port operations.
Essential Skills
- Full Drivers Licence with Forklift endorsement
- Knowledge and experience of marshalling and stevedoring operations within a port environment
- Plant operating experience
- Excellent computer skills : Outlook, Word and Excel, Corporate Data-Bases
- The ability to manage a diverse operational team, tact and good interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving ability, particularly when working under pressure
- Excellent communicator
- Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act

This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of a dynamic port environment while leading a dedicated operational team and supporting the delivery of essential maritime and cargo services.
- Leading and supervising day-to-day cargo operations and operational employees.
- Ensuring staff are appropriately trained and competent for assigned duties.
- Managing cargo, customs, biosecurity, and security compliance requirements.
- Supervising container packing, devanning, control, and cargo handling activities.
- Coordinating cargo receiving, storage, delivery, and marshalling services.
- Supporting vessel scheduling, berth planning, and port user operations.
- Allocating plant and equipment to maximise operational efficiency.
- Assisting with maintenance planning, safety initiatives, and emergency response activities, including oil spill response.
- Participating in all operational activities as required, including bulk cargo and woodchip operations.
Desirable Skills
- Customer Service experience
- Knowledge of operations within a Port Environment
- Knowledge of industry related legislation:
Maritime Transport Act / Maritime Security Act / ISPS Code / Resource Management Act - MROC/VHF Radio Operators Certificate
- Local Port Service or Vessel Traffic Management System experience and or training
